| Arts Marketing was set up in 1993 by artists and
crafts people in the Nelson region who realised that it
was far better to work together than in isolation. Today
the trust has a membership of approximately 300; painters,
potters, sculptors, weavers, glass artists, wine makers,
boutique accommodation owners and art-loving individuals.

Arts Marketing.
It is a charitable trust and its aims are to:
- Profile Nelson as a centre of artistic activity and
an attractive cultural tourism destination.
- Create opportunities for practitioners to market /
sell their work and build their professional reputation.
- Assist practitioners to improve their business management
and marketing capability.
- Facilitate relationships within the creative sector
regionally and with other sectors at both regional and
national levels.
The Trust consists of up to 12 Trustees from a mix of artistic
and commercial backgrounds. Its Patron is Sir Patrick Goodman. For more information
on the Trustees and staff .
This website and the Nelson Guide
Book, Art in its Own Place, (now in its sixth edition)
have been developed the trust to profile the region and
its thriving creative and cultural tourism sectors. The
growing number of arts practitioners who have chosen to
make their home in Nelson is an indication of the how the
region embraces creativity – it makes Nelson what it is
today.
Arts Marketing also works with local and central government
bodies and agencies to ensure that the creative sector is
considered and included in all levels of planning.
If you travel to Nelson by plane you will hopefully have
noticed the artwork on display and for sale at the
main terminal building. This gallery
space is managed by Arts Marketing on behalf of its membership
with the generous support of Nelson Airport Limited. So, if you find yourself in
need of that final Nelson souvenir – just give us a call
from the airport, tell us what you would like to buy and
we will ship it anywhere in the world.
More recently, Arts Marketing has been working with the
film sector, writers and fashion designers in the region
to facilitate collaborative projects that will raise their
profile and support their sector’s development.
